Handwriting, to me, is the greatest form of self-expression. There's something about writing down your thoughts in your own handwriting, with the inclusion of smudges, miswritten words, and emotion that make a piece of text so much more real than if you're reading it on a screen (let's disregard the irony here).
Technology is convenient and readily available, and I understand why digital journaling has taken over the community lately. I mean, you have every brush, sticker, layout, theme, and anything else you can think of at your disposal. It really can't get any better than that. But with the addition of convenience, we take away the personalization. There's just something unique about putting a pen to paper because it can't be replicated. You can feel the emotion in someone's handwriting, and it can convey a message that simple Calibri on a screen can't.
Penmanship allows me to not only write my thoughts, but also tell a story. I know my own handwriting, and it changes when I'm feeling a certain way. When I reread my entries, I can feel what I was going through. Doing it any other way just doesn't replicate that feeling for me.
Long live journaling ♡
